Abstract: The recognition of Mesopotamia by Europe is the product of several phases of work over many years. In the first part of the seminar, this process will be covered under the following headings.

  • Biblical Archeology
  • Narratives of travelers, adventurers and merchants,
  • The first excavations carried out by the great museums of Europe in the 19th century,
  • Solving cuneiform writing,
  • Scientific studies providing discovery of ancient civilizations
